Texas star talks Tide future

Alabama has had plenty of good fortune recruiting in the state of Texas under Nick Saban and Woodlands offensive guard Chad Lindsay is the latest elite prospect from the Lone Star State to commit to the Crimson Tide. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound lineman was pursued by Big XII and SEC powerhouses alike before committing to Alabama and says some programs are still continuing to recruit him despite his commitment to the Tide.

"I still hear a lot from other schools, especially from Tennessee. They haven't stopped recruiting me and trying to get me on campus for a visit," said Lindsay, the nation's No. 36 offensive guard according to "I just can't imagine loving any place like I love Tuscaloosa. The coaches, the atmosphere, the tradition - they've got it all. It's everything you could want from a program. I'm pretty confident in my decision."

After a productive summer in which he posted a 425-pound bench press and a 550-pound squat max, Lindsay and his teammates at The Woodlands are looking to follow up a strong 2008 season with another dominant campaign in 2009 beginning with a road trip to Cy-Fair on August 29.

"We're feeling really confident about this season. We lost a lot of good players from last year but there are a lot of new faces that have really been impressive at practice so we think we'll have a very talented young team this year."

"Our coaches told us they'd really be depending on us seniors to step up and lead a lot of these younger players so I've been doing what I can do teach the younger guys. Mostly what I feel like I've shown them is the importance of going hard every play. That's something I pride myself on and hopefully I can pass that on to the young guys."

Lindsay remains focused on his senior season at The Woodlands but said he is looking forward to his future at Alabama, where he believes Saban and his staff are building a dominant program.

"I've met Austin Shepherd and Cade Foster and both of them seem like great guys. Cade's a big dude for a kicker, I'll give him that. From what I know about this class, it seems like another great group that will be able to come in and contribute at Alabama. It's exciting to be a part of what's happening in Tuscaloosa right now."

"I plan on taking some official visits but I haven't decided where yet, other than taking one to Alabama. I'll probably decide over the next couple of weeks."

Lindsay will also be participating in the Under Armour All-America game following the season.
