Checking in with Ivan McCartney

He's tall and fast with sticky hands and a good route runner. Basically everything you need to thrive in Chip Kelly's offense. What isn't known is whether he'll visit Oregon. But he did say the Ducks are still squarely in it for his commitment.

Receivers Coach Scott Frost is handling Ivan McCartney's recruitment and he says he's still in touch with the Ducks. "I haven't made a list or anything but with Oregon, we talk like, at least twice a month I'd say." "Yeah, I'm still looking at Oregon like everyone else because I'm nowhere near making a decision. No list or anything. I'm still getting all the information about all the schools and finding out about them all."

I asked him if it was closer to a finished list or just a pile of letters in boxes he agreed that it's somewhere in between but that his five visits look to be set by the time his team's season starts near the end of this summer. "Sometime in August probably," said McCartney, "that's what it looks like right now."

But just because he sets all five visits, doesn't mean he'll take them all if he doesn't think he needs to. 'I don't know if I'll take all of them because when the school feels right I might make a decision. We'll just see how it feels," said McCartney. "But I'll have five school that I want to visit by then. And when I have that list then I'll start lining up visits throughout the season."
