Sunshine State QB high on SU
Orlando (FL) Olympia pro-style quarterback Trevor Siemian has reeled in double digit offers and more should be on the way.
As a junior Siemian had a great season throwing for 2,597 yards, 25 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions. One item that might get over looked when one looks at his stats is his completion percentage that was 71 percent a year ago.
Siemian, 6-foot-3, 180 pounds has offers from schools in the ACC, Big 12, Big East, and Conference USA. One school that came in at the beginning of the process has left a solid impression on the three star prospect.
"The Syracuse offer really came out of nowhere because I had not been in touch with the coaches before that a whole lot. I was really surprised and I know that the coaching staff up there is unreal. I was really impressed actually I was like shocked."
Even though the Orange have been down the past few years the Sunshine State product still knows a decent amount about the program already. He is also excited to see what the new coaches at Syracuse can do.
"I know it is really good school and I know that the communications school is real good. I know the football team has had a tough time the past couple of years, but I think the coaches are definitely going to get it turned around I think. I am excited to see how it goes. I think I am going to take a look up there this summer with my dad. I want to see everybody in person and the campus."
Now that the Orange have offered the prospect what do they like and what does Siemian think he does well?
"Syracuse said that they like my presence on the field and I was able to throw the ball down field pretty well. That is was jumped out to them," Siemian said. "I think I am an accurate passer and I do not turn the ball over a whole lot. I am a gamer so I compete real well during games."
After holding the Syracuse offer and other offers for some time now Siemian is not ready to name a favorite or a top five. Even though he has not done that he did talk about his interest level in the Orange.
"I have high interest definitely. They were one of the first schools that came after me, so they really grabbed my attention then. Like I said I am going to go up there and see what everything is about up there. We will see how it goes."
When it comes to picking a school the choice will be on the gunslinger and his parents will offer advice that is about it. His parents however do have a little connection with the Orange.
"My parents are all for the academics so they are really looking at that," Siemian said. "They are from Buffalo originally so they liked the idea when Syracuse offered me."
Other than Syracuse and the nine schools to extend an offer a few other schools are showing interest in Siemian.
"A lot of schools came by; N.C. State wants me to go to their camp. They are talking about offering. Kentucky, Miami, Florida State have talked about it and told me to hang on or a little bit. Tennessee has been talking to me and they said they were going to call me this week. It is kind of a waiting game with some schools."
