When Manning (SC) defensive back John Fulton named his top five in early May, the South Carolina Gamecocks were running fourth in the race for the talented DB's services. However, Fulton has updated his top five and the Gamecocks have acquired better position.
Fulton told GamecockCentral.com his new top five, in order:
"Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee are my top five now," he said.
The Palmetto State standout explained the reason for Carolina passing the Georgia Bulldogs.
"I think USC is closer and I have a better opportunity to play early there," he said.
When asked how big Alabama and Florida's lead was over the Gamecocks, Fulton had this so say:
"It's not very big at all. It's wide open. Any school can move up at this point in the process."
Fulton was scheduled to make a visit to USC last weekend but was unable to make it.
"I couldn't come in," he said. "But I'm going to be heading there soon. Other than that I'm just going to a bunch of camps this summer."
The corner prospect, who racked up eight interceptions as a junior, recently told GamecockCentral.com that he wanted to go out-of-state to play his college football. Is that still the case?
"Well, it is," Fulton started, "But South Carolina, that was my childhood dream school and everything."
The Manning star has a plan in mind for his commitment.
"I'm going to decide sometime before I graduate in December," he said.
Fulton is being recruited to USC by Shane Beamer.
