Four-star lineman weighing options

Four-star offensive lineman Wes Rea will have several important decisions coming up in the next few months.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pounder from Gulfport, Miss., will not only have to decide what school he will attend but he will also have to pick which sport he signs a scholarship in. Rea is not only being recruited in football, he is also getting several looks on the baseball diamond as well.

Rea already has nine football offers on the table from Mississippi State, Arkansas, Duke, Florida State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Stanford, Tennessee and Vanderbilt but is expected to add some baseball offers to the mix when coaches are allowed start sending them out late this summer.

"It's just going to come down to which offers I'm going to get from July in baseball," Rea said. "I'm going to have to look at my offers and see how that goes in baseball and go from there. I know that I can't play both. I can't be an SEC caliber lineman and still play baseball."

Rea hit .520 this past season for Harrison Central with six home runs as well as going 6-3 on the mound. He has received interest from Mississippi State, Tulane, Ole Miss and Southern Miss in baseball.

The multi-talented Rea was expecting some attention during the recruiting process but not quite at this level.

"My coach told me that all of this was going to happen," Rea said. "I just didn't know all of it was going to happen this fast."

One of the schools that have been by to visit Rea is Mississippi State. He was visited by both head coach Dan Mullen and offensive line coach John Hevesy.
