Derrick Coleman looking to impress
Sophomore running back Derrick Coleman is one of six running backs who will be trying to impress the UCLA coaching staff tonight when the spring game commences tonight at 7:00 PM PST. Coleman played as a true freshman and has the most game experience out of the six running backs vying for the position.
Coleman talked to BruinBlitz.com after a recent practice to discuss his spring, the competition and the upcoming spring game.
BruinBlitz.com: You are currently embroiled in an intense battle for the running back position this spring, how do you feel you're doing?
Coleman: "I think though out spring I have improved a lot. I think I have showed that I can block. I think I have worked really hard and I'm not really worried about who the starter is, and who's not. All I know is when I get my chance, I'm going to make it."
BruinBlitz.com: What were the main things you were working on this spring?
Coleman: "All of the offseason, I worked hard on my strength and speed. So going into spring I wanted to work on my pass blocking and make sure I had all the pass protections right and stuff like that and then get better at running. Make sure I have better vision for the field and things like that."
