North Carolina speedster eyes the west
Athlete prospect Tehvyn Brantley (5-9, 175, 4.38) from the heart of ACC country has his eyes on the Pac 10. The Durham (N.C.) Mt. Zion flyer has been to the west coast quite a bit and has even taken a Pac 10 school junior day and will be going to another Pac 10 school junior this weekend.
Things are beginning to pick up on the recruiting trail for the speedy Brantley as he has picked up his first two offers from Central Michigan and Buffalo. According Brantley's dad, LaRoy Brantley, Clemson and South Carolina are on the verge of offering.
Other schools that are showing recruiting interest are Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Washington and USC from the Pac 10. Other schools giving Brantley recruiting attention are Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Ohio State, Michigan, Rice and Wake Forest.
"I'm going to play in the Pac 10 or the Big 12," Brantley said. "I like the weather out there."
"I'm currently in California during spring break working out with Coach C of the Cincinnati Bengals," Brantley said. "He saw me at a camp and he wanted to take me under his wing.
Brantley plays quarterback on the high school level, but he projects as a wide receiver in college to better make use of his speed. He ended up throwing for 18 touchdowns and ran for 10 more. His performance saw him earn all-state and all-conference honors as a junior.
