Thompson Makes Special Trip to Norman

After signing only two high school offensive linemen in the class of 2009 it seems quite certain that some prep blockers are among Oklahoma's priorities in the class of 2010. One of the earliest offers among the group was Pflugerville, Texas offensive tackle Tyrus Thompson. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound blocker hails from the shadow of Darrell K. Royal stadium but admits he is excited about his Sooner offer.

Even if some of his friends, and perhaps one teammate are not.

"I didn't even know Oklahoma was looking at me that hard. I knew they were sending me stuff but I thought I was just on their mailing list or something," Thompson explained. "My teachers weren't happy when they found out about it but some things are more important than trying to please your friends.

"I don't find anything wrong with Oklahoma, I have a couple of friends that like OU but most people don't like that they do. I know Alex Okafor wasn't that happy about the offer."
