Banks ready for first and only visit

East Webster standout Johnthan Banks is ready to take his official visit to Mississippi State.

In fact, the visit is two weeks overdue. The three-star safety was supposed to be apart of the Bulldogs first recruiting weekend but he a scheduling conflict due to a basketball game at French Camp.

But with the final weekend visit coming up and signing day approaching, Banks will make the short trek to Starkville from his home in Maben, Miss.

"I'm pretty excited about it," Banks said. "I wanted to go on the 16th but I had a basketball game. I've been pretty excited about visiting for while. I'm just looking forward to meeting some of my classmates. I'm just really excited to meet the new coaching staff and all that. I pretty much know everything about the campus already."

Banks was one of the first commitments of the 2009 recruiting class after giving his pledge back in April. Since that time, the 6-foot-3, 180-pounder has never wavered.

It is that type of commitment that could play in the Bulldogs favor this weekend as Banks will be trying to get several other prospects on board for State this weekend.

"I'm hoping that everyone who comes is going to commit," Banks said. "That's what got me to go ahead and commit was how nice the campus was and how nice everybody was there."

There is one particular thing that Banks is interested in going to while he is on campus. The prospects will be attending the men's basketball game against in-state rival Ole Miss on Saturday.
