DE Denzel Drone is a Spartan

SpartanMag.com was able to catch up with Plant City High School Coach Jason Strunk earlier this morning. Coach Strunk confirmed that his star player, Denzel Drone is headed to East Lansing to play for Michigan State University.

The 6-foot-2, 230-0pound Drone took an official visit to Michigan State this weekend and committed to the Spartans shortly afterwards.

Coach Strunk had the following to say:

"Denzel has committed to Michigan State. I received word from Harlon Barnett yesterday. Denzel was also offered by Western Kentucky and Troy earlier in the year."

Though he is listed as a defensive end in the Rivals.com database, th Spartans are bring Drone in to play defensve end. We asked Coach Strunk about Drone's ability and his potential?

"Denzel has tremendous upside. He has a big body and he will add to his frame once he is fully involved in the MSU weight lifting program. He is very athletic; quick off the ball and excels at backside pursuit. He is a high energy player. MSU will a tremendous place for him to fully develop as a player and as a student."

Drone is rated a 3-star prospect by Rivals.com. He was named the Most Valuable Player at the linebacker position this past spring at the Gainesville NIKE Camp.
