Fisher enjoys in-home with Leach
Keller (TX) Fossil Ridge wide receiver Aaron Fisher didn't have the senior campaign he was expecting. After winning two consecutive District 6-4A titles, and making noise in the state playoffs, the Panthers struggled mightily in 2008 and won only two games.
"All of my class' career, we were winning district," explained Fisher, a Texas Tech commit. "We were like, 'Okay, we have a chance at state,' and then we tarnish it up and do terrible as a whole team. It was really disappointing.
"We had a quarterback that, at first, he wasn't doing too good. Then we changed to our second-string quarterback, and then we converted a receiver to quarterback. We went through four different quarterbacks this season, we moved a sophomore up too."
For Fisher, the inconsistent play at quarterback limited his opportunities to make plays. And though he posted about half of the catches as he did as a junior, he still put up monster numbers.
"I had 36 catches for about 950 yards, which is really good because I had over 60 catches for 1,100 yards [as a junior]," he said. "I was well on track to match last year's stats. I had eight touchdowns, half the touchdowns as last year."
With his high school career officially in the books, Fisher has shifted his focus to his future as a Red Raider. The 6-3, 175-pound receiver hosted Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach, inside receivers coach Lincoln Riley and safeties coach Carlos Mainord on Sunday.
"It was pretty fun," Fisher said of his visit. "We were just sitting around, talking a lot about different stuff. We were watching the football game at the same time, it was pretty enjoyable.
"My parents asked them a few questions and they answered. My mom was wondering about the academics, of course, because she wasn't able to go on my official visit with me or anything. That's basically what they were talking about."
Fisher checks in at No. 58 in the Rivals.com Postseason Top 100 for 2009.
