Trufant returning to ASU
Tacoma (Wash.) Wilson cornerback Desmond Trufant is expected to be on Arizona State's campus this weekend for the second time in the last two months.
"When I went the first time for my (Nov. 14 official) visit, my parents didn't get to go and they were wanting to see it for themselves since I'm so high on ASU," Trufant said in an interview earlier this week. "I like the area there and the guys on the team and the coaching and my parents want to see all of that so they can have their own opinions"
The 6-foot-0, 170 pound cornerback is the younger brother of NFL all-pro cornerback Marcus Trufant, who starred at Washington State before becoming a first-round selection in 2003.
"ASU is still my top school right now but I am going to visit Washington State (Jan. 9) and Washington (Jan. 22) before I make any decision. That's my plan. Colorado is still a possibility but mostly I'm looking at the (three) Pac-10 schools."
Trufant that said with a recent coaching change at Washington, and a program overhaul taking place at Washington State, he'll be looking at both schools in a new light.
"I'm familiar with both of them but I haven't been there in a while," Trufant said. "I've got to look at it in a different perspective because of what's been going on with both of them. I just need to think about it and weigh it out after I take those visits."
Trufant said he has no specific timetable for when he'd like to make a decision, other than to have it prior to the start of the signing period which begins Feb. 4.
"I'm just going to go by feel," he said. "I think I'll know when I know. It'll be about whether I can see myself living there for the next five years and be comfortable with being a part of the team and the school and the community."
Trufant is the No. 6 prospect in Washington's 2009 class, and the No. 54 cornerback recruit nationally by Rivals.com.
