Stars start to emerge in new LSR update

The Class of 2010 is nearly upon us.

After almost two years of discussing some of the most celebrated members of the class of 2010 from within the state of Texas, it's almost time to start speaking of this group of kids in the present and not the future.

In two months it will be all about them, which is why each LSR Top 100 update takes on a little more importance. With schools across the country starting to make decisions on this group, projects from a year ago have emerged as certain big-time prospects.

Still, if there's one thing that seems to be clear about the mega-prospects in 2010, it's that they've been on the radar for quite some time. In this month's update of the Lone Star Recruiting Top 100 for 2010, nine of the state's top 10 prospects already held elite status when we last updated the list in October.

However, once you get past the top ten there are a number of major changes as the Texas state playoffs come to their conclusions.

The player that made the biggest jump in the rankings in this update is Denison running back D.J. Jones, who surged from the No.100 spot into the No.9 spot on the list. As a junior this season, Jones rushed for 2,240 yards and 32 touchdowns.

Other players in this month's update that made big moves into the Top 25 of the December update are Dallas Skyline wide receiver Mike Davis (from No.34 to No.11), Dallas Skyline linebacker Dominique Patterson (from NR to No.13), Houston North Shore wide receiver Deandrew White (from NR to 15), Crockett tight end Naquan Lee (from No.83 to No.22), Cedar Hill offensive guard Adam Shead (from No.54 to No.23) and McKinney quarterback Zach Lee (from No.65 to No.24).

Here's a look at the biggest movers (up 20 or more spots) for the state's Top 50 in this month's update:
