UGA offers, now leads for JUCO star
The University of Georgia has had some success recently in the Junior College ranks and they are looking for more in 2009. The Bulldogs have evaluated one of the top JUCO prospects in the country and decided to offer him last week.
"My coach (Jeff Terrill) kept telling me that Georgia was looking at me and I finally got on the phone with them last week to talk to them," said Pernell McPhee. "I know they had been interested, but when I talked to them I was not expecting them to offer, but they did. It was a big surprise."
McPhee is fresh off a visit to Ann Arbor where he took a long look at the Michigan program. He liked what he saw in the Wolverines, but something about Georgia has moved them up to the top.
"What I like about Georgia is their tradition, how they put guys in the NFL, and they are always a team that can compete for championships. Other than those things, I don't really know much about them yet."
The 6-foot-4, 270 pound four-star defensive end will have a chance later on this week to learn about the UGA program though because he is taking an official visit.
