Thomas headed to Madison

Cedar Hill, Tex., cornerback Darius Thomas knew he would be playing his college ball in the Big Ten, but the announcement was made official when he chose the Wisconsin Badgers over Iowa Friday.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound prospect selected UW over offers from Iowa, Louisiana Tech, Kansas State and Houston and becomes the first cornerback in Wisconsin's 2009 class.

Thomas was being recruited by defensive back's coach Kerry Cooks, who also secured a verbal from Josh Peprah

Thomas is Wisconsin's 17th verbal in a class that could have three or four remaining spots.
