Holmes prepares for final game
It's the end of the line for defensive end Jimmie Holmes.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound senior will suit up for what could be the final time on Friday in hopes of one last win over the Ole Miss Rebels.
"A win would mean a lot to me," Holmes said. "It could be the last game of football I play in my life. I just want to go out there and play hard."
Holmes did not know much about the battle for the Golden Egg growing up in Aiken, S.C. but he learned quickly what it was all about when he arrived at Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead.
"It's a real big game for me and the people of Mississippi," Holmes said. "It's almost like the South Carolina-Clemson game by me being from South Carolina. But I'm from Mississippi now so I just try to take it how the other people take here."
Holmes did not have many options coming out of Aiken High School due to a low SAT score but is glad of the experience playing at the junior college level gave him.
