Lee in first Egg Bowl appearance
Growing up in nearby Columbus, Miss., Tyson Lee understands the Egg Bowl rivalry better than any quarterback on either the Ole Miss or Mississippi State roster.
He has seen the significance of what the bragging rights of hoisting the Golden Egg Trophy can do to lift the spirits of the fan base for an entire year. But Friday will mark Lee will get first-hand experience in one of the most heated rivalries in the country.
"As far as the atmosphere I know what to expect," Lee said. "As far as the game, it's just Ole Miss-Mississippi State, a good ole rivalry so you know what to expect each time."
Lee grew up a Bulldog fan which is why he decided to walk onto the team after completing his career at Itawamba Community College last fall. While in Fulton, he made the short trek to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium several times to watch Ole Miss play.
"I've been to a couple games up there but I bleed maroon and white," Lee said.
MSU enters Friday's contest as a 13-point underdog against the 7-4 Rebels.
