Charles leads after Murray goes down
The Plant offense was rolling with 28 first half points and things were going well, but Elite 11 quarterback Aaron Murray went down late in the second quarter. Rivals100 tight end Orson Charles took the lead and the Panthers won a big one.
It seemed like the couple thousand fans that were in the stands Thursday night in Tampa (FL) disappeared when Murray laid on the ground in pain minutes before the first half came to an end.
He got outside the pocket and made a great play only to have a Hillsborough defender roll onto his ankle causing him to dislocate it and break his fibula.
Murray was carted off the field, so someone else had to take the leadership role.
It was Charles. The 6-foot-3, 225 pound tight end put the team on his back and kept them focused the final two quarters.
Plant ended up winning the game 44-28 and Charles finished with a couple of touchdowns.
He took the time to talk with us after the game just before he left for the hospital to see his close friend Aaron Murray.
