Drew happy with decision
Columbus (Ga.) Northside defensive tackle John Drew wasn't the first player to commit to Duke from the 2009 class, but he was the most highly rated prospect the Blue Devils had picked up at the time. When he switched his commitment from Georgia Tech to Duke on June 20, the 6-foot-1, 303 pounder seemingly opened the eyes of many Blue Devil targets across the country.
Just two days later, three-star quarterback Sean Schroeder and athlete Corey Gattis added their names to the list. Others began speaking of the impact that Drew's commitment had on their individual decisions. Many claimed it was a stepping-stone, and proof that Duke can attract high-level prospects.
