Derrick Coleman ready to go
True freshman running back Derrick Coleman had his first collegiate action against the Wildcats last Saturday and now that he has one game under his cap, Coleman looks to see improvement on his performance against Fresno State on Saturday. Coleman spent time with BruinBlitz.com after a recent practice.
BruinBlitz.com: How do you feel about your first collegiate game?
Coleman: "I went out there and played hard. I was my first game so I have one under my belt and know what to expect now. I came out here (to practice) and it looks totally different, because now I know what it feels like to be in a game. Now I want to make sure I go at game tempo during practice."
BruinBlitz.com: What is the biggest difference playing in college and high school?
Coleman: "I'm not sure after one game that they hit harder, just a lot quicker. You have to react a lot quicker and your vision has to be a lot better. The strength and physical part isn't really that much different, but mostly just the quickness. That's what I think is the biggest difference really so far. I have to wait until I get a couple more games under my belt then that will be a good question to ask."
