2010 Florida WR has offers

Miramar, Florida junior wide receiver Ivan McCartney has already picked up three offers and a strong junior season should cause that list to significantly grow. The talented athlete has been receiving mail and could be one of the Sunshine State's top prospects in the Class of 2010.

McCartney, who is listed at 6-foot-1 and 156 pounds, claims he is up to 6-foot-3 and 175. Miramar's first game is this week so he will have an opportunity to showcase his skills.

"I feel like we're ready to play," McCartney said of his Miramar squad. "We're ready to take this thing all the way.

"I'm just trying to lead the defense and be more of a leader this year."

McCartney currently holds three offers. Who are they from?

"I've just gotten mail from FIU, West Virginia and Boston College," he said. "Those are the three schools that have offered.

"I really want to hear from Florida, Michigan and Georgia. I don't really have any favorites. I'm going to be looking for a school with a good education, a good environment -- things like that.

"I think I can be a leader for whatever school I end up at."

McCartney doesn't know much about Boston College just yet, but that's what the recruiting process is for. It's a school he expects to take a serious look at.

"Boston College has a real good team," he said. "I like them. I'll definitely look at them.

"I'm going to try to go to some games at some schools this year but my education is first. I'm trying to get a 3.5 GPA and I still have my team to play for. That's what I'm most focused on."

McCartney will likely be sending film out to some of the other schools that have not yet offered.
