ISU boosts its stock with Hyder

Austin (Texas) Lyndon B. Johnson three-star defensive end Kerry Hyder was treated to a 48-28 Iowa State victory over Kent State during his official visit to Ames this past weekend. Following the trip, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound prospect discussed his impressions of the school and his future plans for the recruiting process.

"It was a good trip. They showed me a good time and it was an exciting game," Hyder said. "I liked the campus atmosphere and I liked the academic side of it. There was a lot of academic support. They boosted their stock, of course. I'm going to take some other visits and compare other schools to it."

Heading into the official visit, Hyder had a top two of Iowa State and Texas Tech. Coming out of the trip there has been no change at the top of his list and will not be one until he takes an official visit to Texas Tech, a trip that was recently postponed a week.

"Next week I am taking a visit to Texas Tech. I was going to go this weekend, but I just changed it," Hyder noted. "It's still about the same. If one of the schools (stands out) when I evaluate it and I feel this is where I want to be, then I am going to make my decision. If not, then I'm going to take a little more time with it."
