Cyclones in top two for DE Hyder

Iowa State is right in the thick of things to land a strong side defensive end out of the state of Texas named Kerry Hyder. Hyder, who stands 6-foot-3, 246 pounds has been vocal that Iowa State and Texas Tech are currently his two favorite schools at this point in time.

Iowa State is in the mix due to a couple of connections.

"I worked with Coach Chizik at a football camp a few years ago and I have a friend that goes to Iowa State right now."

The friend Hyder referenced is Darius Darks, a freshman wide receiver for the Cyclones.

"I played against him in AAU basketball and I've always known him," Hyder said. "He lets me know that it's a good school and that I could play there early."

Along with Iowa State and Texas Tech, Hyder claims offers from Cincinnati, Minnesota, Utah, Toledo and New Mexico.

Hyder said that he plans on giving both Iowa State and Texas Tech official visits and that he has no time table on when a decision will be made.
