Jenkins receiving interest

Fort Myers (FL) South Fort Myers athlete Brodrick Jenkins had a solid junior season and there is not much room for improvement at the high school level. Last season Jenkins was a first team all state selection as a utility player.

Jenkins, 5-foot-10, 170 pounds is getting close to having a double digit offer list and he recently spoke about a few schools that are interested in him.

"Indiana, Iowa, Boston College, and West Virginia are showing me the most interest."

The three star prospect talked a little about what he thinks of when it comes to a certain school.

Indiana: "Indiana seems great, but I have to look into it more. I know they have a great coaching staff and they are enthusiastic."

Iowa: "Iowa is a program on the rise and it seems like I could really fit into Iowa."

Boston College: "The academics at Boston College are what I really like."

West Virginia: "I would love to play with Noel Devine."

Growing up in Florida makes it tough to just pick one school that you can call a dream school, but Jenkins has picked one. Over the years Jenkins has watched the Florida Gators and he has tabbed them as his dream school. Even though the Gators are his dream school an offer from them would not mean that Jenkins would commit right away.

One other school that is looking at Jenkins is Syracuse and the Orange offered the Sunshine State product recently.

"Syracuse offered me at the beginning of the summer," Jenkins said. "I was surprised, but the coach said he was going to make it happen, so it was not a surprise, but it was."

At Syracuse Jenkins would be lined up on offense and the coaching staff would be looking for him to make plays.

"Syracuse is looking for me to play wide receiver. They told me the reason they offered was because I am great with the ball in my hands," Jenkins stated. "I can catch and I can make a play out of nothing. I can make a three yard play into a 70 yard play. I can catch the ball wherever I am just versatile."

A visit to Syracuse has not been taken yet and one has not been set up, but Jenkins would like to visit the Orange.

"I would like to visit because I have never been to New York. My visit to Syracuse would be an official visit."

Jim Salgado is recruiting Jenkins for the Orange and the prospect thinks that a solid relationship is being made.

"When he came down here we did not get to talk that much because he was talking to my coach, but it seemed like a good bond if I was ever to play for him."

A decision from Jenkins will not be made until he takes all of his official visits. He did mention however that two factors will be very important in his decision.

"Academics are going to player a big role because my family is all about that. I want to major in business finance," Jenkins also added. "I would like to play right away."
