Hudson takes in TCU

TCU is known for their fierce, hard hitting defense and that's one of the things that has peaked the interest of Bushland's Andrew Hudson (6-5, 235). Hudson was in Ft. Worth yesterday for a visit with Coach Patterson and the Horned Frogs and it looks like the Frogs hit a homerun in their effort to impress the young defender.

"Man, it was great. I was hoping coming in that I would like one school or the other (TCU or Oklahoma St.) more but this is going to be really hard. I had a great time meeting all of the coaches and the facilities at TCU are beautiful" said Hudson "I really liked the campus and how everything was close together, that was real nice. I was hoping to lean one way or the other after this visit but I love both schools right now. I couldn't go wrong with either place so this is going to be a tough decision."

Although the quotes might make you think it's a two horse race at this point, Hudson wants to slow everything down a bit.

"I was thinking that it was down to a final two of TCU and Oklahoma St. but I started talking to some people and I want to slow down a little" said Hudson. "Kansas wants me to come visit and they said that they would probably offer if I came up there so I'm considering that right now too."

After meeting the coaches at TCU, Hudson had some glowing remarks for the program and the coaching staff in general.

"I met all of the coaches and they were really cool. Coach Fuente recruits my area so I talked to him a lot. I got to meet coach Bumpas the defensive coordinator too. TCU has an awesome defense and since I'm a defensive end, I really like that a lot about them."

With offers in hand from the likes of TCU, Oklahoma St., UTEP, Colorado St., Arkansas St. and Utah St., Hudson isn't under the radar any longer. The Fogs are hoping that the tour that he took Friday is enough for him to pull the trigger on a commitment. After visiting TCU and Oklahoma St. on back to back days, it looks like the young defender has a few things to ponder.

"Right now, I'm looking for a school that's close to home and I want to have a good relationship with the coaching staff. the number one thing that I'm looking for is a place where I can win a National Championship, other than that, I want to go somewhere that I can get early playing time. I want to go somewhere and make an impact right away" said Hudson.

With the recent trend of prospects changing their minds once they've committed, Hudson wanted to make something clear from the start.

"A lot of kids pick a school then change their mind" he said. "I'm the kind of guy that once I give my word, I keep it."

Hudson mentioned that he would know when the right time was to pull the trigger for one school or the other. One thing the Frogs have in their favor is their ability to win big football games against top competition. Hudson mentioned that TCU has impressed him with their willingness and ability to play and beat tough teams.

"I know TCU's beaten some tough teams like Oklahoma and Texas Tech recently. Their defense is really good and those kind of things stand out to me. I'll make my decision when I'm 100% sure that a certain school is the right place for me."
