Blazers After Three Star Linebacker

"We lost a lot, but we've got people to step in. It will be a real disappointment if we don't win the State Championship this fall." That's how a Rivals.com three star linebacker prospect is looking at his senior year. Last year his team went 13-1 before losing to the eventual 4A Georgia State Champions. UAB is one of five schools that have offered the 28th best inside linebacker prospect in America.

The Blazers are in the mix for Tucker, Georgia linebacker Jonathan Davis along with South Carolina, Louisville, Penn State and Central Florida. "I don't have a favorite right now," Davis said. He hopes to visit all five schools before the summer is over.

Davis, who wants to major in Physical Education says "location and a school that is suited for me - that challenges me academically are factors that will help lead him to a decision on where he attends college. He has a score of 19 on his ACT and has a 2.6 GPA.

Though being recruited as a linebacker the 5-9, 205 lb. Davis plays both ways at Tucker. He also lines up in the backfield when Tucker has the ball. "I don't care where I play. Just whatever gets me on the field," he said.

Tyson Summers is recruiting Davis for UAB. "He's a great guy all the way around. He told me I could come in and start if I decided to come there."

"I play sideline to sideline," Davis said. "I'm hard-nosed and I get to the ball." On offense I'm a downhill runner with speed.

UAB coaches and fans are hoping to see Davis chasing runners from sideline to sideline wearing green and gold.
