Texas LB on the move

One player who made it worth while to participate in the Nike Camp on TCU's campus was Richardson(TX)Lake Highlands linebacker Austin Jones. The athletic linebacker measures in at 6-foot-2, 200-pounds and was named the camp's MVP at linebacker.

"It was different," Jones said of his camp experience. "I've played with some of those guys out there during the season. It was great to show what I can do with some of the best players. It was great being out there."

Although his performance hasn't translated into an offer just yet, it has garnered him interest most of it coming from a pair of Mountain West schools.

"I'm hearing from TCU and UNLV," he said. "TCU is one of my favorites, then I like Texas Tech, Arkansas, OU, OSU. Those are the one's I'm trying to go to for camps. I'm also planning on going to camps at North Texas, SMU, A&M, and Texas."

Jones says TCU's location among other things is what makes the Frogs program standout.

"It's close to home," Jones said. "I grew up watching them and I've been to their campus a few times and it's real nice. They told me after my last game last year that they would keep an eye on me so they're one of the first to notice me."

One thing favoring TCU is their proximity to Lake Highlands, but Jones says it isn't the biggest factor in his decision making.

"Location is a pretty big thing," he said. "Academics is also a big thing, but overall I want a school that can offer me something that fits me well for academics and football."
