Signee update: Ingram readies for Capstone

Mark Ingram
Position: Running back.
Rivals.com Position Ranking: 17th-ranked running back.
Commitment Date: 2/5/2008.
Recruited By: Curt Cignetti.

Present Height and Weight?: "I'm 5-11, 205. I've always been 205 - it's a little heavy to run track but I'm still running good right now."

On his future jersey number at Alabama: "I want No.7, but I know Will 's got it [Will Oakley], so I might try to get No.20. It really doesn't matter, though. I'll run in whatever they give me."

On his official visit to Tuscaloosa: "Luther Davis was my host and he showed me a great time. He's a down-to-Earth guy and we still talk all the time. I've been down to Tuscaloosa twice since I signed, once for A-Day and also [the previous weekend]. I'm just trying to get used to the terminology right now."

One thing you may not know about him: "I'm a really good golfer. I won the Midwest Junior Nationals two years in a row my seventh- and eighth-grade year. The first year I shot 76-63 and then my eighth-grade year I shot 72-73. I still golf every now and then when I can fit it in. My dad [former NFL WR Mark, Sr.] got me into it, and I just started playing in bigger and bigger tournaments. I could always hit it real far off the tee so that was my advantage."

On being the son of a former NFL player: "I was young so I don't remember a lot of it, but it was good. I learned a lot from him, like how to read defenses, how to run routes and stuff, he's been through all this."

Self-description of running style: "I'm can be a finesse runner and also a power runner, too. What a lot of coaches say they like about me is that I can split out wide and catch the ball. I'm very versatile - I just try to be me. If I had to compare myself to another back, I'd say I'm like a Brian Westbrook, or a LaDainian Tomlinson type, just very versatile."

On what he is doing currently to stay in shape: "I run track and it keeps me in good shape for now. I run the 100m, 200m, 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, and some times I do the long jump when they need me to."

On when he will report to Tuscaloosa: "I'm going to be in summer school, but we don't graduate until June 3, so I'm going to be a couple of days later getting down there than a lot of the guys. I think I get there June 5 or 6."

On who his roommate will be: "Probably Damion Square or Robby Green, I talk to those guys all the time. But it could be anyone."

On what he plans to study at UA: "I'm going to major in communications. I want to get into sports broadcasting."
