Video: Seniors draft Green and White teams

EAST LANSING - Michigan State seniors drafted teams for the annual Green and White Game Monday in the auditorium of the Clara Bell Smith Center with Spartan assistant coaches split evenly between the two squads.

Greg Jones was taken first overall in the draft by the Green team. But it was the White team's pick of center Joel Nitchman that created the biggest buzz because it left the Green team without a center.

Draft commissioner Mark Dantonioleveled the playing field with a forced trade that sent Nitchman to the Green team and Eric Gordon and Mike Schmeding to the White. That trade came after 10 minutes of heated discussion between the two teams with defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi and offensive line coach Dan Roushar pleading the White team's case. Green Team quarterback Brian Hoyer was adamantly opposed to the trade. He argued that not picking a center was bad draft strategy by the green team.

Nitchman's move to the Green team gave that squad the entire starting offensive line. The White team has the entire starting defensive line including Antonio Jeremiah and Trevor Anderson to go along with seniors Justin Kershaw and Brandon Long.
