Ohio ATH likes Spartans
One of the top all-around athletes in the state of Ohio for the class of 2009 is Bradley McDougald of Dublin Scioto High School. The 6-foot-1, 188-pound prospect could projects at multiple positions at the next level and has offers from a variety of schools at different positions. SpartanMag.com has the latest.
It is another great year for talent in Ohio and McDougald is one of the reasons why. His offer list is already impressive and when SpartanMag.com, spoke with him, he updated us on the total amount.
"I now have 11 scholarships in all he said. West Virginia and Akron are my two most recent offers."
Those scholarships go along with offers from schools like Michigan State, Wisconsin, Indiana, Pittsburgh and Kansas. The Ohio State Buckeyes have yet to offer McDougald, but are another team in frequent contact with him.
What position is McDougald being recruited fro?
"It depends on the team. Ohio State has said they like me at safety. Michigan State has said they like me as a cornerback. They like my size and how I am physical. A couple of other teams have said I could play running back. Wisconsin said they like me as a wide receiver."
As far as what position he will play in college, McDougald indicated that wherever he can help the team be successful is fine with him. What is more important is the school, the players and the coaching staff.
"I am not in a hurry to make my choice. I am going to wait until after my senior season. I want to take some visits and get to know the coaches better."
The Spartans are one of the schools that has been in frequent contact with McDougald for quite a while now.
Coach Tressel came and saw me in a basketball game back in January. He also spoke with my Coach and asked him to have me call him. I called him up and after I got done talking with him he put Coach Dantonio on the phone. He told me that they were offering me a scholarship and wanted me to come up there for a visit.
McDougald was able to make his first visit to East Lansing a few weeks ago when he attended the Rivals.com 5-Star Academy and also went to a Spartan Junior Day. He indicated that the trip to Michigan State was definitely a good experience.
"I really liked it. Michigan State s a good school and the facilities are really nice. I liked the stadium too. I enjoyed talking with the coaches and Coach Dantonio is a great coach."

If you look at McDougald's highlight film you can see why the Spartans like him as a cornerback. McDougald fit the mold of big physical corners that Coach Dantonio likes to employ in his defensive scheme.
The Spartans have had a lot of success the last few years recruiting top-flight defensive back prospects out of Ohio. You can be sure they will have McDougald as a high priority recruit over the coming months.
