UGA now targets five-star DE

One of the top players in the country is Devon Kennard out of Phoenix (AZ) and he is reeling in offers from schools coast to coast. The five-star defensive end is being targeting by many top schools in the country.

"I am not sure how many offers I have now, but I know I am in the 20's," Kennard said. "I think I have around 24 or 25, but I am not exactly sure."

"Clemson, Georgia, Louisville, and Oklahoma are the schools that have offered me lately. I think they are the last four and they have offered in the last few weeks."

The Georgia offer came after Kennard's brother contacted the UGA staff. The staff reacted quickly and the 6-foot-4, 238-pound end liked that.

"My brother Derrick is my position coach at Desert Vista and he called Georgia for me and they asked for film. He sent them, they watched it, and then they called him back a day later and told him that I was being offered a full scholarship."

"It was cool how they called back and offered so fast. I think the day after they got the film, they called and offered me."

Taking a visit to Athens is something Kennard is thinking about.

"That would have to be something on top of my to do list right now," he said about visiting Georgia. "They have a great football program and I love how their defense swarms to the football."

"They hit hard, they play fast, they have a great reputation for producing defensive linemen, and it looks like that would be a fun defense to play in. I have watched them on t.v. and they always compete and play hard."

"I hope to take an unofficial visit there this summer, but if I can't work it out, then I may take an official visit there during the season."

He has high interest in many schools, but he is not ready to release a list of favorites just yet.
