Five-star says he'll visit Ole Miss
Bastrop, La. five-star wide receiver Rueben Randle was expected at Ole Miss this weekend for junior day, but was a no show.
He went to Mississippi State instead, opting for the State visit after plans left him without a ride to Oxford.
Junior day events amount to an unofficial visit and prospects must pay their way on such visits.
"My Dad has some other things going and and we couldn't make it (to Oxford)," Randle said Monday evening. "But I got a ride with some others going to Mississippi State."
Randle also recently visit LSU for the Tigers junior day and has plans for more visits.
"My coaches want me to go to Alabama and Georgia," he said. "I'm also going to Ole Miss for spring practice."
Randle said that would likely be for the Rebels' spring game on Apr. 12.
The Ole Miss spring game is being played later than usual, with new head coach Houston Nutt opting for a late start to spring practice which begins on Mar. 17 to give his staff more time for transition and preparation.
Meanwhile, Randle at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds and a five star rating from Rivals.com and a member of the exclusive Rivals100 (top 100 prospects in the country) has amassed an impressive 30 offers with 11 months to go before the 2009 National Signing Day.
"Everything is going good in recruiting," he said. "I don't have a top five or any favorites, I'm just going through the process."
Randle has led his team to three straight state titles. Last season he had 55 receptions for 1,058 yards with 11 touchdowns. He also had three touchdowns returns on punts (he only had 11 total returns, as teams kicked away from him, and he averaged 29.9 yards per return).
