Cobb getting offers, names a favorite

As one of the Central Texas area's top prospects in the Class of 2009, Killeen (Texas) Ellison defensive back Daniel Cobb is starting to become a hot commodity for schools across the country.

The 6-1, 195-pound Cobb visited Austin this past weekend for The University of Texas' second junior day event of the year, but the Longhorns aren't the only school currently showing early interest.

"Texas Tech and Oklahoma State have been showing a lot of interest," Cobb said after returning from the UT Junior Day. "I have offers from Texas Tech, Houston, Georgia Tech and I think Arkansas is going to offer soon."

One school that hasn't yet offered Cobb a scholarship is Texas. After visiting with him on Saturday, the Longhorns expressed interest, but told him that they aren't quite ready to move forward with a scholarship offer.

"They told me they wanted to see more film," Cobb said. "They told me they like me and they are interested, but they'd like to watch me this spring.

As far as the visit was concerned, Cobb was quick to give the Longhorns high marks.

"It went good. Texas is a good school. They have nice facilities and nice coaches. I really enjoyed the visit.

"To be able to talk with the players was really nice. They made you feel like you were already a part of their family. That really stood out to me."

As far as favorites are concerned, Cobb is keeping his mind open, but even he had to admit that the Longhorns still hold a high place in his heart

"Texas is still up there, but so are Texas Tech and Houston," Cobb said. "I'm interested in a lot of schools, but Texas is still No.1 though."
