2008 Breakdown: Quarterback

Nebraska had the quarterback position all locked up for close to five months when five-star quarterback and Elite 11 MVP Blaine Gabbert committed to the Huskers in May of last year. However, in late October, Gabbert announced that he was officially back on the market and eventually signed with Big 12 North rival Missouri.

While the original plan of taking at least one quarterback looked like it had completely fallen apart, the Huskers actually surprised many in filling the gap left by Gabbert with a Texas prospect - from a school known for producing quarterbacks.
