Valentine chooses K-State over Dogs

Just days before signing day one of the top JUCO defensive ends from Southern California, Grant Valentine, has made his decision. With no surprise, he will call Kansas State today and tell them he is a Wildcat.

Glendale CA) Glendale College defensive end Grant Valentine had a number of offers on the table and took visits to both Kansas State and Fresno Satte. In the end, however, Kansas State was too much to pass up.

"I am going to sign with Kansas State," Valentine said. "I am about to call the coaches in a little bit. They left me a massage and I am about to call them back right now."

Valentine is 6-foot-3, 240 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash around 4.5 seconds. He led the Vaqueros in tackles in 2007 and was a unanimous selection to the Western States Pacific Division All Conference Team for his efforts.

Valentine says his relationship with the coaches at Kansas State was the difference.

"They have been there since the beginning," Valentine said. "I liked the trip when I went out there. I like their style of play. When I went out there I liked the relationship I had with the coaches."

Valentine attended Helix High School (Calif.) as a freshman and sophomore before transferring to Burbank High School (Calif.) for his final two years of high school. He was being recruited by UNLV and New Mexico before failing to qualify academically. Valentine is on track to transfer next May with three years left to play two years of football at Kansas State.
