Cyclones ratchet up interest in CBs

Iowa State has verbal commitments from two quality cornerback prospects to date, but the needs at the position are such that it's still working the recruiting trail hard for corners. The Cyclones have picked up their involvement with a pair of southern Florida talents who could be next in line for offers from ISU.

Judah Linder is a 5-foot-11, 170-pounder from Miami (Fla.) Edison. He said that he'll start a string off three consecutive official visit weekends this Friday (1/11) with a trip to Marshall. That will be followed up by official visits to Iowa State on Jan. 18 and South Florida on Jan. 25, as Linder's plans stand now anyway. UCF, Central Michigan, FIU and FAU are other schools that Linder said have offered.

Linder said he intends to hold off making a decision until he's made all the official visit trips he's going to make.

Up the road from Miami is Boca Raton, home of cornerback prospect Antonio Fenelus. He, too, has been getting increased attention from ISU as of late. The 5-foot-9. 170-pound Fenelus said he's talked about visiting Iowa State officially in the coming weeks, but needs something first.

"I wouldn't take a visit anywhere without an offer," Fenelus said. "I'm looking at playing time mostly. The weather, too. I've been in Florida all my life, I'm not sure how I could handle the cold."

Fenelus will get a taste of Midwest winter if his visit schedule holds up, because he said he's slated to trip to Wisconsin on the weekend of Jan. 18. Before that, an official visit this coming weekend to a school much closer to home, Florida Atlantic.
