Memphis LB Jones closer to UK visit

By all indications, Kentucky may be the team to beat for three-star Memphis (Tenn.) University School linebacker DeAndre Jones.

Jones, however, is quick to point out he's not looking to make his college decision any time soon.

"Kentucky is probably recruiting me the hardest right now," Jones said, "in terms of staying in touch with me and trying to get me on campus. I talk to them every week, and quite a lot lately. Coach (David) Lockwood says they want to get me up there for a visit as soon as possible. I might go up there in a couple of weeks, at the end of the month possibly.

"I haven't been in a rush to do it. I'm not feeling any pressure from anybody to make a decision, so I've just tried to be patient and find the fight fit for me."

And what will be the key factors in finding the right fit?

"Number one is how I get along with the players, the guys I'm gonna spend the next four or five years with," Jones said. "Number two is the academic programs and what kind of things they'll have to help me get my degree and be successful in the future if I don't get a chance to play in the NFL."
