Virginia offers Phoebus 2009 stud Davenport

Hampton (Va.) Phoebus defensive lineman Dominik Davenport (6-foot-1, 240 pounds, 4.7 seconds) is one of the top juniors in the state of Virginia.

The 2009 standout has been a force for the Phantoms on defense. While his measurables make Davenport hard to project to a college position, his ability and production are easy indicators as to why he is coveted.

Davenport visited UVa on Saturday and returned home with good news.

"I had a good time," said Davenport. "It was my first visit to any college. It was a real good experience."

Before the kick-off of Virginia's victory over Wake Forest, the Phoebus standout was approached by UVa head coach Al Groh.

"He told me that he had watched my film and that he wanted me to know that I had an offer from UVa. He said that he would love to have me on defense. He told me that he expected big things from me and to continue keeping my grades up."
