Grading the Tide: Alabama 41, Tennessee 17

Quarterback
For the second game in a row, John Parker Wilson appeared to have a real comfort level with the Applewhite/Pendry offense. Wilson completed 32 of 46 passes for 365 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He was efficient on third down, and wasn't as quick to leave the pocket as he has been during games in which he has struggled. When he did leave the pocket, he did a much better job of improvising and decision-making. A deep strike to DJ Hall set the tone early. An overthrow of Keith Brown in the end zone was one of the only throws Wilson would like to have back.

Offensive line/A plus
Given the circumstances under which this group performed, this grade couldn't be anything less. With two regular starters out on suspension and no practice time to get used to the resulting changes, the line protected Wilson very well (one sack, minus-1 yard) as the team rolled to 510 total yards. Fill-in B.J. Stabler played well at guard while Mike Johnson's performance at right tackle was also improved. In the rushing department, there were enough holes for a 100-yard back, and there could have been more had the game plan not called for a heavy dose of passing.
