Nice Add-ition: Frosh Williams may get CB start

It's time for Addison Williams to step up.

The true freshman cornerback from Atlanta, Ga. is the most likely replacement for Carlos Thomas, who suffered a neck injury in practice Tuesday night, in the starting lineup for Saturday's game at North Carolina, Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier said Wednesday.

"Carlos will probably not play. Addison Williams will get his chance to start his first game," Spurrier said. "(Carlos) could be back next week, but he'll have to practice and be able to do some stuff, so we'll hold him out until whenever the doctors say he's 100 percent."

The 5-foot-8, 176-pound Williams played two snaps in last week's victory over Kentucky after matching his season high of 11 snaps the previous week against Mississippi State.
