Murphy still Bama bound?

Last season Hoover standout Kerry Murphy gave Tide fans a scare after he officially visited Miami and named the 'Canes his favorite. However Murphy, 6-foot-5, 325-pounds, changed his mind upon returning home, committing to Alabama and eventually signing there.

However, after failing to meet NCAA requirements the four-star defensive tackle was forced to attend Hargrave Military Academy before arriving at the Capstone. Murphy got off to a slow start after arriving in Chatham, Virginia but he has quickly caught on and is making an impact.

"Kerry showed up here at Hargrave and he wasn't initially ready for how hard we practice and how much we push our players. But he has adjusted so well and worked hard to make the impact he's making. He's one of my best linemen," Hargrave head coach Robert Prunty said. "I think Kerry will be an offensive tackle at the next level because he has great feet. His footwork is excellent and he uses his hands so well. He reminds me of Brandon Albert who I had here a few years ago. He's not quite as tall as Brandon but he has similar skills. Brandon went off to Virginia and became a starter right away and he'll be an NFL player. That's how Kerry is."
