Catching up with Rennie Curran
Freshman Rennie Curran has quickly made a name for himself over the course of fall camp. He has worked his way up to the primary backup role at the Will linebacker position, and is poised to not only play this season, but play a lot.
UGASports caught up with Curran to see how things are going in Athens.
You have been the talk of camp as far as freshmen, what has been your approach?
"My approach to everything is to be optimistic. Coming in, I was really expecting good things for myself. Back home, I have a bunch of Bulldog fans in my family, and they were expecting big things from me. I got together with the rest of the freshmen, and we all toughed it out, spent a lot of time in the film room, and stayed optimistic. The first couple of days I looked really bad fundamentally, but I spent a lot of time in the film room by myself, and studied the playbook when I was alone, and learning all of that really helped me out."
Do you expect to play this year?
"I really work hard, I am a competitor, I want to help the team, and I want to play. It is the coaches' decision, and I will do whatever or play whatever position. It does not matter if I play linebacker or special teams; I just want to get on the field."
