Cats an early co-leader for Memphis LB

One of the first duties David Lockwood assumed upon taking an assistant's position with Kentucky earlier this year was scouting the Memphis, Tenn., area for potential prospects.

Lockwood was on the Memphis staff from 1995-99, so he knows the city well and has established strong relationships with coaches in the region.

Some of those connections are already paying off.

DeAndre Jones, a 6-foot, 223-pound linebacker from Memphis University School, says the Wildcats are one of his early favorites in the recruiting process.

"I'm really liking Kentucky right now," Jones said. "Kentucky's definitely one of my top schools. As far as right now, I don't know who my top three when it comes time to make my decision, but I know Kentucky will be one of them.
