Injuries to Rank, Wallace Move Maddox Up

Shoulder injuries to Taylor Rank and Bobby Wallace have propelled freshman Brian Maddox to third on the running back depth chart behind last season's rushing leaders Cory Boyd and Mike Davis.

Accompanied by a trainer, Wallace departed Monday night's practice, the second workout on the day, with about 15 minutes remaining with his arm and shoulder in a sling.

"Bobby Wallace sort of got his shoulder bruised up a little bit," USC head coach Steve Spurrier said. "We're hoping it's nothing more than a sprained shoulder right now. He was walking around okay."

Rank wore a yellow jersey during Monday night's two-hour practice in full pads at the Bluff Road practice fields adjacent to William-Brice Stadium. USC had two practices for the first time in fall camp.

"He had a shoulder (injury) also," Spurrier said. "He should be back in a day or so."
