Sights and sounds from Thursday afternoon
Here is a look at the sights and sounds from Thursday's afternoon practice, which included the first skirmish of camp, and an update on the status of Saia Falahola from coach Dennis Erickson. Also included is an injury report, and the status of a potential depth chart battle that was not expected to be a competition heading into camp. Carpenter told the girl to ask any question and it didn't have to be football related. She asked him what his favorite movie was, Carpenter answered, "Borat." Once practice started Carpenter continued to have fun at practice, using snap counts that featured colors such as turquoise and periwinkle. "Periwinkle 90, Periwinkle 90, set, hut-hut," from Carpenter and the fans watching practice all started to laugh. But after the laughable snap count Carpenter was all business, looking sharp as he had a nearly flawless practice. Carpenter looked accurate in passing drills, and did a fine job of handing the ball off in a goal line situational scrimmage. Carpenter even had time towards the end of practice to work on go routes with a few young boys dressed in ASU gear.
