Up close with freshman defensive end William Yancy
Over the course of fall camp, HuskersIllustrated.com will go up close with each of the newcomers in Nebraska's class of 2007.
Today, we caught up with former four-star defensive end William Yancy and got his early perspectives and thoughts about life in Lincoln. Read what Yancy had to say and also find out if he plans to redshirt this season.
What's been the biggest adjustment for you so far in fall camp?
"The biggest adjustment so far has been speed. Like my brother told me, when you first get to college the speed is the first thing you are going to recognize that's different . That's just the biggest factor right now. I know strength and size will come later, but right now I'm just trying to get my speed up."
Has there been a guy or two that's just overwhelmed you with their overall speed or ability?
"Of course our offensive line is very talented and they're all very strong. Our offensive line will be very good this year and I have faith in them. A few guys, (Matt) Slauson and (Lydon) Murtha, (Carl) Nicks and (Keith) Williams are for sure the strongest guys I've seen. I just try to stick with them every time and try to do what I did to get here."
What's worse, practicing in Nebraska humidity or Arizona heat?
"Humidity I can deal with, but the heat in Arizona is a little different. 115 degrees is a little strange."
