Fall camp preview: 5 key questions

The Alabama football team opens fall camp this week, and beginning Friday, the Crimson Tide team that takes the field on Sept. 1 will begin to take shape. Here are five of the critical issues facing the team entering camp:

1.] Will the defense be able to hold its own against a power running game?

The situation at nose tackle is critical to this question. A successful 3-4 defense thrives on the nose. If Brian Motley's newfound home on the defensive side of the ball turns out to be a wise move, the entire defense will benefit. Opponents will be forced to seek more yardage outside the tackles, where the secondary can provide more support. If UA struggles on the nose, ILB Prince Hall can expect some Sunday morning cobwebs.
