Hogs target top tight ends

Rogers tight end Jake Byrne was probably the top tight end participating in the Shootout of the South 7-on-7 Tournament in Little Rock (Ark.) on Friday and Saturday.

Byrne, 6-foot-5, 240 pounds, 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash, caught 30 passes for 300 yards for the Mounties last season as the team went undefeated until a loss in the state 7A championship game against Fort Smith Southside. Byrne currently has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Kansas, Mississippi State and Tulsa.

Rogers Coach Ronnie Peacock is pleased to have his big tight end back for his senior season. Peacock said Byrne is off to a fast start this summer.
