Bob Gibbons TOC Notes - Saturday AM Action
The 2007 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions continued on Saturday. Team Final suffered two close losses and will be heading back to Philly with a disappointing 1-2 record. Weak rebounding, defensive lapses and lack of consistent execution on offense did them in. Game three for Team Final was a match-up with the DC Assault 16s (featuring Wallace "Wally" Judge is a Class of 2009 Forward prospect that Villanova has been tracking).
Class of 2009:
Andre "Scooter" Gillette, 6'8", Forward, Philadelphia, PA, Neumann Goretti
He matched up quite a bit head-to-head with Wallace Judge in this contest and Judge got the better of him. Scooter grabbed three boards and posted 6 points. All 6 points came on lay-ups. One finish was an impressive catch of a difficult pass which he quickly kissed in off the glass. Gillette shot 3-5 from the floor in his afternoon game. In the morning game, he scored 3 points - a nice lay-up after sealing his man and 1-4 from the FT line. He had 3 boards and a blocked shot as well. Gillette shot 1-5 from the floor in his morning game. His performance this weekend was not up to par in comparison with his recent performances. Gillette needs to become more assertive on the glass and establish better rebounding position. Offensively, he suffered from a lack of touches more than anything else.
