Cromartie talks decision

Late Monday night, the Wisconsin Badgers landed their second verbal commitment of the Class of 2008 when Marcus Cromartie selected UW over offers from Iowa State and Air Force and heavy interest from Arkansas, Florida and Kansas. Credit UW defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks, a Texas native, for identifying Cromartie and plucking the rising prospect out of Mansfield (Texas) Timberview.

Tuesday night, BadgerBlitz.com caught up with the 6-foot, 160-pound Cromartie, who talked about why he decided to take his football and academic future to Madison, Wis.

Your college decision is out of the way… how do you feel right now?

I'm feeling really good about my decision. I feel really good about the Badgers. And I feel that I won't be needing to change my decision. I was real close with Coach Cooks and you know I'm glad that the decision is out of the way.

How long have you been talking with Coach Cooks? When did this recruitment begin for you?

Well, it's pretty much been since the beginning of my recruitment. We've been talking probably close to two months now. I had my offer probably almost a month. And we've just been getting closer and he's from Irving, Texas, so already being from Texas we share a common view. So it was just good having him interested in me and from the beginning of the time we've just been growing closer, so I thought it would be a good school for me to go to.
